Traumatic Brain Injury Both children and adults can be left neurologically impaired by accidents or illnesses. After patients have been medically treated, its then time to restore and/or remediate their cognitive functioning and to help them re-establish their lives. Neuropsychological Services of Westchester is a team of mental health professionals working together to provide the multiple services necessary for recovery from brain injury. The approach consists of an individualized plan of treatment based on objectives and procedures which are determined by an extensive Neuropsychological and Behavioral Assessment. Interventions are revised in each session for optimum clinical impact and include: strengthening cognitive processing of all mental abilities, i.e., memory, concentration, word retrieval, managing emotions, awareness of limitations, psychological adjustment, social skills, family adjustment, work performance, vocational adjustment, and behavioral adjustment. Clients may require all of the services available or only a few depending on their needs for establishing independence and success in achieving their goals. |
